School Schedule
Lima Primary follows an ABCDE schedule. The schedule is mapped out on the HF-L calendar. Should a school cancellation arise that day is lost and the calendar remains correct. The K-5 school menu also has the letter days included.
Absence from School
In the event of an absence, we request that a parent:
Email limaschoolattendance@hflcsd.org regarding your child's absence or call the main office before 9:30 a.m. at 624-7140**. This allows us to account for all students registered at Lima Primary School. We take these precautions in light of every parent's worst fear - child abductions. Please cooperate.
If the school was not notified of your child's absence, a written note must be sent to school on the day of the child's return to school, including specific reason for absence and dates of absence. Excuses must be dated and signed by the child's parent or guardian.
** Should the office not be notified of a child's absence, a secretary will call home to confirm their absence. We attempt to complete this by 9:30 daily.
Excused absences include:
Sickness
Sickness or death in family
Impassable roads or weather
Quarantine
Required to be in court
Music lessons
Remedial health treatment
Any absence due to reasons other than the above is unexcused, including early dismissals for personal reasons.
Long absences from school for vacations or other trips must be acknowledged by the building principal. Please send a letter to the building principal before such absences. These absences are considered "illegal" absences by NYS.
Early Dismissal
If a parent would like a child excused during the day, the parent must send a written request or email from home. This request should go to both the classroom teacher and limaschoolattendance@hflcsd.org All pick up requests should be submitted to the office by 12:00 p.m.
Emergency School Closings
If school opening is delayed or cancelled, the district will make an automated call to the primary contact phone numbers for each student and staff member. The delay or closing will also be posted on the district website, www.hflcsd.org, and local radio and television stations will be notified. (Please Note: These stations will be notified as soon as the decision is made. However, the on-air announcement will be made according to the radio or television station’s schedule. Please do not call the school.)
If school is to be closed early due to bad weather or other emergency, the district will make an automated call to all contact numbers for each student. Families should have a procedure to follow in the event of an early closing. Please be sure to make prior arrangements for the care of younger children if no adult will be at home during the day.
On days when school is closed due to bad weather or another emergency, all extracurricular and evening activities are also cancelled.
